After being called back from that teaching, Harmon has faithfully served alongside Pastor Shawnee ever since. Currently worshipping effectively, and safely through the protocol of digital streaming services, our services, youth, and community has grown to effective strides of quality ministry. We are a community of believers who believe in doing ministry, and not church.
Shawnee N Harmon woman breaking barriers of self confident, self love, and self growth. Restoring life from within while breathing life into others. With spirituality being her guidance and family being her support, Shawnee has redefined the woman she once knew. She has redefined herself by overcoming her own insecurities of not being beautiful or loved. She rose above the stigma that of being a teenage mother and being involved in toxic relationships. As she found herself, God has allowed her to find her place in him as a mother of 3 and a grandmother of 3. It taught her that no matter what or who comes or goes, God will forever be present. Where no-one has understood her struggle of living with 2 disabled sons, God has given her the ability to learn where her strength really resides.
Having grown up in Evergreen, AL as the 9th child of 11, her parents, the late Elder Johnny & Shelly Booker, it was inevitable that ministry was her portion. Her grandmother, Elder Irean George as well as numerous uncles, aunts and siblings also carried the mantel of preaching, teaching, and singing. On January 28, 2004, Shawnee preached her initial sermon at House of God Church Keith Dom., where she was a member. Her sermon was titled “I Aint Never Scared”. She delivered a message that she would have to walk daily. While serving under the House of God Leadership, she also exercised her vocal abilities by serving as the youth choir director and praise and worship leader for over 20 years.
Shawnee became the leader and founder of “Community of Believers” during the 2020 world wide COVID 19 pandemic. As she desired that her family continued to stay close to God by having church services via Facebook Messenger. The ministry has grown beyond her expectations but they are functioning under Gods authority.
Shawnee has received recognition from the Conecuh County School System for being an active parent as the School Choir Director. She has also received accolades for being in numerous stage plays, as well as recognition for writing her own monologues. With more to give the body of Christ, Shawnee plans to give the world her personal story by completing her first book in 2022, “It Wasn’t For Me”.
